Nine Utah residents were among more than 200 people who suffered diarrhea, fatigue and other symptoms after drinking unpasteurized orange juice tainted by salmonella.

The outbreak was reported last week by the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which said that as of July 13 there were 207 cases of orange juice-related salmonella illness in 15 states and two Canadian provinces. The CDC initially reported four Utah residents were sickened by orange juice made by Sun Orchard Inc. of Tempe, Ariz. By Thursday, the number of reported Utah illnesses had risen to nine, said epidemiologist Nicole Stone of the Utah Department of Health's communicable-disease-control program.

The unpasteurized juice was sold as liquid and frozen under several brand names: Aloha, Earls, Joey Tomato's, Markon, Sun Orchard, Syscon, Trader Joe's, Voila and Zupan. It also was sold under the brand name Vareva.

Stone said one Utah victim was hospitalized from June 24 to at least July 15.
