Festival of the American West will present the American Heritage Quilt Show Friday, July 30 through Aug. 7 in the historic Wellsville Tabernacle, 75 S. 100 East, Wellsville, Utah. More than 70 juried quilts will be on display from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. daily (except Sunday, Aug. 1). Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children, or free with your ticket to the 1999 Festival of the American West.Scera Art Gallery will exhibit the paintings of Larry Christensen through July. Christensen, a painter since age 14, received his bachelor of arts and master of fine arts degrees from Brigham Young University. "I strive to portray the sublime nature of mankind," says Christensen about his work.
WORKSHOPS, LECTURES, CLASSES
Art Access will present another of its free workshops for teens, designed to provide an intensive arts experience. Artist Jeronimo Lozano will teach the making of retablos on Thursday, July 29 through Saturday, July 31. The Utah Museum of Fine Arts will present another Sunday Gallery Talk on Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. Docent Tobi Terry wil discuss, in depth, the French painting "Anacreon, Sappho, Eros and the Female Dancer," by Etienne De Lavalle-Poussin. For more information call the museum at 581-7049.
Artspace's Summer Institute of Art & Imagination is continuing its classes through Aug. 12.
