WEST HAVEN--Elden "Mutt" Hans Knudson, 83, passed away Sunday, July 25, 1999 at Ogden Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family from pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born on November 27, 1915 in Deweyville, Utah, a son of Lewis P. and Barbara Ellen Germer Knudson. He was raised in Portage, Utah and graduated from Bear River High School. Elden worked on the family farm and for the Union Pacific Railroad until moving to Ogden. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corps where he served for three years, spending most his time in the South Pacific.Elden married Arleen McLean on July 15, 1946 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage. Together, in 1946, they began E.H. Knudson Construction, where Elden worked until he retired in 1974. The company is still running strong after 55 years and is now run by his three children. Elden also developed Karol's Mobile Estates and Knudson Development Company. Arlene preceded him in death on September 30, 1992.
He later married Marion June Beeton on March 21, 1994. They enjoyed every day whether they were working in the garden, taking care of the horses, golfing, or kicking up their heels at the dance. They had a lot of fun whatever they did together.
Elden loved all sports, especially hunting and fishing. You could find him at Riverside Golf Course almost everyday where he loved to golf with his friends. Another love of Elden's were his race horses. He loved raising them and watching them race. Elden would say, "with so many things going on and so many things to do, I have no time for getting bored or not having anything to do."
