I received a phone call from Deputy Lowther today explaining to me that I was breaking the law by calling the father of my grandchildren, who refuses to pay child support because my phone call seemed threatening. Utah apparently has a Deadbeat Dad Law, but it seems to take months for it to be enforced.

If a judge orders a father to pay child support and he doesn't, he can certainly count on it taking quite some time to go back to court, one time, then another, before he will be either made to pay or thrown in jail. If it takes months of paperwork for a man to be brought to justice but less than 24 hours for the law to contact a concerned family member because someone thinks they are making harassing phone calls, isn't there something a little wrong with the picture?
