Brigham Young Historic Park

An acre in downtown Salt Lake City, once a part of Brigham Young's farm, today is a historic park with a flowing creek and water wheel. Brigham Young Historic Park, on the southeast corner of State Street and 2nd Avenue (east of the Church Office Building and just south of City Creek Park), is owned by the Church but open to the public. City Creek itself has historic significance to the Church. Water from the creek was the main source of irrigation for crops after the Mormon pioneers settled the valley and a grist mill was powered by the flowing water. After 1914, the creek ran underground, but was raised to the surface for the parks. Free concerts, part of the Church's Concerts in the Park series, are frequently held at the park.
