PASADENA, Calif. -- Longtime sports broadcaster Keith Jackson and two others were inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame on Friday.
Others honored during the 11th annual induction ceremony were former Michigan State kicker Dave Kaiser and former UCLA receiver and kick returner Al Hoisch.Jackson has been a play-by-play voice for ABC-TV since the network secured the college football package in 1966.
"I honestly feel I don't deserve this," Jackson said. "It will go down as perhaps the ranking award of my career because of my respect for the Rose Bowl game itself and the people who've created and developed it."
Kaiser, who also played receiver and cornerback, kicked a 41-yard field goal to give Michigan State a 17-14 victory over UCLA in the 1956 Rose Bowl.
Hoisch, a 5-foot-7, 144-pounder, returned a kickoff 103 yards during UCLA's 45-14 loss to Illinois in the 1947 game. The return remains the longest in the history of bowl games.
