Orpha Fay Lazenby May, age 80, passed away Dec. 29, 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah.Born October 13, 1919 in Loa, Utah, daughter of Henry and Orpha Tilby Lazenby. Married Jay Theodore May October 16, 1937, Evanston, Wyoming; solemnized January 29, 1970 in Salt Lake LDS Temple.
A cherished wife, mother and grandmother; she delighted in family outings and picnics and being a full-time mom. Faithful servant to her Father-in-Heaven she spent her life in the unselfish service of her family, friends, neighbors and many a stranger. Served the Lord in a variety of callings, held church offices and perhaps her favorite was that of a visiting teacher to her sisters in the Relief Society.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her as she now joins once again into the company of her father, sons and brothers and sisters who have gone before her.
Survived by husband, Jay; mother, Orpha Tilby Lazenby; two sons and their spouses, Gary and Marilyn May, Ted and Susie May; daughters-in-law, Christine, Kathleen, Debbie; 35 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dale and Iris Lazenby, Doug and Dune Lazenby, Fern and Norm Toombs, Ted and Karren Lazenby, Virgil and Maurine Lazenby, Wanda Spilman; sister-in-law, Lily Lazenby.
Preceded in death by her father Henry Lazenby, sons, Jay T. "Butch", Dale Wayne "Lefty", David Thomas "Tom"; brothers and sisters, Walter Lazenby, Dick Lazenby, Dawna and Chic Kelly, Helen and Bill Meecham; and great-grandson, Joshua "Butchy" May.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 12 noon at the Granger 25th Ward, 2101 West 3100 South. Friends may call Monday, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m.
Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
