The Senate Transportation Committee gave unanimous approval Wednesday to a bill allowing the use of unmarked cars to help nab speeders, reckless drivers and other law violators on the road.

HB9 also alters the definition of reckless driving to include a succession of three or more moving violations, such as improper lane changes.Col. Richard Greenwood, superintendent of the Utah Highway Patrol, said the proposed additions to state law would make it easier to make charges stick in court.

Greenwood said the unmarked cars would be used in tandem with identified police cruisers.
