Cincinnati has had some impressive numbers this season, starting with a ranking that's been as high as No. 1 and no lower than No. 4.
The Bearcats (12-1) topped the 100-point mark for the first time in a 106-66 victory over UNLV on Sunday. And there were plenty of other numbers for them to crow over.Third-ranked Cincinnati dominated the boards 51-33, had 12 blocked shots, forced 23 turnovers, including seven on steals, and went 8-for-10 from 3-point range in taking a 23-point halftime lead.
"We're really playing as a team," forward Pete Mickeal said. "When guys are making the extra pass and penetrating and rebounding, too, we can't be stopped."
At least not by the Runnin' Rebels (8-3).
"Our guys tried to go up strong and just got manhandled, pushed around," UNLV coach Bill Bayno said.
And it started right away as Kenyon Martin scored the first seven points of Cincinnati's 11-0 run to open the game. UNLV tried to run with the Bearcats and the lead continued to grow as they scored inside and from the perimeter.
Center Kenyon Martin had 21 points, six rebounds and six blocks in only 20 minutes, and Mickeal had 16 points and nine rebounds. Freshman DerMarr Johnson had things under control from the outside with 22 points.
"They played us zone for about 30 minutes last year," coach Bob Huggins said, referring to Cincinnati's 13-point victory at the Las Vegas Shootout. "I thought they would play more zone this year. I think this is the hardest we've played for 40 minutes."
Trevor Diggs led UNLV with 18 points but no Runnin' Rebel had as tough a game as center Kaspars Kambala, their leading scorer and rebounder.
Kambala, who averages 20.6 points and 9.4 rebounds, rarely got the ball and finished with 10 points and three rebounds in 23 minutes.
"I think he was intimidated," Bayno said. "They came right at him. He didn't fight back the way he's capable of."
NO. 4 AUBURN 100, STONY BROOK 45: Chris Porter scored 15 points to lead the Tigers (12-1) in their 23rd consecutive home victory.
NO. 9 DUKE 96, WILLIAM & MARY 55: Freshman Carlos Boozer scored a season-high 28 points and senior Chris Carrawell added 20 as the Blue Devils (9-2) won their 42nd straight home game and improved their record in Cameron Indoor Stadium to 600-135.
NO. 13 NORTH CAROLINA 86, HOWARD 53: Brendan Haywood had a season-high 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels (9-4), who opened the second half with a 25-3 run.
NO. 14 MARYLAND 100, COASTAL CAROLINA 48: Juan Dixon had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Terrapins (11-2), who cruised to their 72nd straight non-conference home victory.
NO. 16 TENNESSEE 72, RADFORD 46: Marcus Haislip and Jon Higgins had 11 points each as the Volunteers (12-1) had 10 players score in the home rout. Rian Everett scored 15 points for the Highlanders (4-6).
NO. 18 TEXAS 90, HOUSTON 80: Chris Mihm had 20 points, 13 rebounds and tied his school record with seven blocks for the Longhorns (8-3), who used a 14-4 run to take a 71-61 lead with 7:19 to play. Freshman forward George Williams had 23 points and 12 rebounds for the visiting Cougars (6-7).
