Frank E. Diston died peacefully after a long illness from complications of Alzheimer's Disease and pneumonia on Dec. 30, 1999.
Frank was born in Evanston, Wyoming on April 26, 1920 to Margaret R. and John T. Diston. He attended schools in Evanston, graduated from Evanston High School. He attended the University of Wyoming and American University, Washington, D. C. He graduated from George Washington University with a Dr. of Law Degree.Frank worked as a City Court Clerk, as a representative for the Legislative Conference, for the SLC Chamber of Commerce, as secretary for the Utah State Board of Pardons, an associate in the law office of Brayton, Lowe and Hurley and at Tracy-Collins Bank and Trust as an Executive Vice-President and Trust Officer. He retired from Tracys in 1985.
He was a member in good standing of the SL County Bar, Utah State Bar, the American Bar - licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the Court of Military Appeals. He was a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and the George Washington University Alumni Association. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Fred Evans and Friends Law Club, a member of the University Club, and the Country Club.
Frank joined the Navy in March, 1942. He served two tours of duty in the Pacific on the battleship Indiana and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant J.G. in 1945.
Frank married Luella Heward in 1942 in Reno, Nevada. Avid Wyoming Cowboy fans, they traveled extensively with the team. Active in team sports, always ready for a party and a good time--a good old Cowboy Joe.
He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Lou Ann; and son-in-law, Peter W. Stevens; granddaughters, Amy Marie Catharina Stevens, Brooke and Annalee Diston; daughter--in-law, Susan Diston; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Ralph Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; by brothers, Paul, Kenneth, John L.; and sister, Gladys; and by three children, Barbara Jean, Donald T. and the light of his life, John Lee.
