VERNAL, Utah--Arthur Fisk McOmber, 85, died December 31, 1999, at the Uintah Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

He was born July 28, 1914, in Oakley, Idaho, to Calvin D. and Achsah Stout McOmber. He married June Martineau in the Logan LDS Temple June 21, 1940. They were later divorced. He then married M. Kathyleen Merkley Ahrnsbrak on May 24, 1979 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.He was a retired conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad. He was also involved in real estate in Pocatello and Salt Lake. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission to the Southern States. Being very athletic, he captained a missionary basketball team used to introduce the Mutual program in the mission field. LeGrande Richards was his mission president. Arthur had a life-long zeal for missionary work.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Arthur F. Jr. (Diana), Lehi, UT, and Howard J. McOmber (Elizabeth), Renton, WA; one daughter, Susan Lemmons, Hillsboro, OR; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Emerson (Josie), Clements, CA, Winston (Louise), Salt lake City, Adrian (Grace), Fremont, CA, David (Rachel), Orem, UT; a sister Velma Teerlink (Clarence), Gold Rush, CA; and a stepson, David R. Ahnrsbrak (Laura), Vernal.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin and Ferryle; and his parents.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at 12 noon in the Vernal 2nd & 4th Ward Chapel, 235 East 600 South. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under direction of the Hullinger-Jolley Funeral Home.
