Our delightful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away unexpectedly December 29, 1999 after a brief struggle with heart disease.
Jean was born March 9, 1922 in Portland, Oregon to Lillian Constance Elise Krebs and Louis Napoleon Gallo. They raised her and her younger sister, Lois, in Portland. In June 1944 she graduated from the University of Oregon and married James C. Ricksecker. They had three daughters, Diane Elise, Kathryn Jean, and Joanie Claire. In 1957 we moved to Marin County, California. For 14 years Mom was a single parent. After we were out on our own, Mom moved back to Oregon to live by her mother and sister. She married Jacob R. Newcomer in 1974. She was a loving and faithful wife until his passing in 1982. Traveling with her children, grandchildren, or alone was one of her greatest joys. She delighted in seeing the world. She will be remembered for her life's experiences which she shared with all of us.
After a serious bout with pneumonia in 1996, Mom moved to Sandy, Utah. She loved to read, "run errands," travel, eat out, visit and spoil her family. She taught us the joy of being service-oriented. Mom brought happiness and love to her family and friends. Her cute and loving ways will be missed by all who knew her.
