CALGARY — South Korean Choi Eun-kyung set a world short-track speed-skating record in the women's 3,000 meters Sunday, clocking 5:01.976 to claim the gold in World Cup competition.
Choi surpassed the previous mark of 5:02.180 set by Chun Lee-kyun of South Korea in 1995. Yang Yang of China was second.
In the men's 3,000, American Apolo Anton Ohno fell short in a bid to sweep gold in all four individual races.
Ohno, who won Sunday's 1,000 meters, was charged with interference and disqualified after crossing the finish line first. South Koreans Kim Dung-sung and Min Ryoung were awarded gold and silver, respectively, ahead of Canada's Francois-Louis Tremblay.
The women's 1,000 meters was won by China's Yang Yang in 1:37.008, .044 of a second ahead of compatriot Dandan Sun..
