NEW YORK (AP) — A man suspected of killing a Maryland state trooper during an undercover drug deal was arrested early Monday in New York City, police said.

Kofi Orleans-Lindsay, 23, of Silver Spring, Md., was taken into custody shortly after 1 a.m., said detective Ed Reuss, a New York police spokesman.

Orleans-Lindsay is accused in the slaying of Cpl. Ed Toatley, 37, a 16-year veteran of the Maryland State Police who was shot in the head Oct. 30 during a drug sting in Washington. Toatley had been assigned to a multijurisdictional task force of officers from federal, Maryland and District of Columbia police.
