PROVO — Clark Swenson knows his idea of a good Christmas gift makes people edgy.
Swenson, the county department's director of health promotions, says a wonderful present you can give yourself is an HIV test.
"People may say, 'What an awful thing to do during the holidays,' " Swenson said. "Well, that depends on how you look at it. It also could be seen as how you are taking care of yourself."
Swenson said anyone who has put himself or herself at risk for contracting HIV at least once can be tested Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the department, 589 S. State.
In honor of World AIDS Day, the department will waive a $15 fee for the test. Tests can be done orally or with a sample of blood.
Results are given in person and in private, Swenson said. For more information call the Utah County Health Department at 370-8724.
