In response to Brian Marston (Deseret News Readers' Forum, Nov. 22), I, a reasonable and rational person being of sound mind and body, oppose the need for the Legacy Parkway. I also have real alternatives. Stop moving to Davis County if you work in Salt Lake City. Try riding commuter rail when it is built. Try carpooling.
If people can't stop being so self-centered and driving their own car every day from points north or south, then I feel no sorrow for them when they get stuck in traffic. Building new highways only decreases congestion for a short time and encourages people to live farther from their jobs.
If you absolutely need to live in Layton, then find a job in Layton. If you absolutely must work in Salt Lake City, then find a house in Salt Lake City. Perhaps you are not as reasonable or rational as you claim to be. Perhaps some time in a few traffic jams will make you think about your choices.
