Wayne Adelbert Reeves, beloved father and grandfather, passed away November 26, 2000, in Provo, Utah, from cancer.
Wayne was born June 19, 1918, in Pomona, California, to Adelbert L. and Fannie A. Godfrey Reeves. He was the youngest of seven children. Wayne received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California, with a minor in business management. He also received degrees as a Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant. He received a Master of Science in Financial Services from the American College. He was one of the original founders of the pension administration company, Raymond, Reeves, and Stout.
Wayne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in Southern California as a bishop and stake president and as a counselor in the California East Mission presidency. From there he was director of the Washington, D.C. Temple Visitors Center. He served as a counselor to two Los Angeles Temple presidents and was president of the Los Angeles Temple from 1989 to 1992. He most recently served as a sealer in the Provo Temple. Wayne was employed by Beneficial Life Insurance Company for forty-seven years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madge Kemp and two sons, Lawrence Edward and Richard Alan. He is survived by his sister, Gertrude (Les) Knott of Los Gatos, California, and his children, Marilyn (Tom) Rose, Santa Clara, California; David (Vickie) Reeves, Provo, Utah; Donna Vivian, Vancouver, Washington; Lou Ellen (Stan) Stout, Mesa, Arizona; Melvyn (Linda) Reeves, Bountiful, Utah and Robert (Janet) Reeves, LaVerne, California, as well as 44 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 1, 2000, at 12 noon in the Edgemont 14th Ward Chapel, 4000 Foothill Dr., Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 North, Orem, Utah, and at the church on Friday morning from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment will be at Green Acres Memorial Park in Bloomington, California at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2000.
