Jeanette M. Rupp, age 77, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly November 26, 2000, in Salt Lake City.
Nanny was born July 22, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James Owen and Margaret Seversen Rupp. She was married to Melvin L. Smith for 16 years. They later divorced. She married Blair Steele in Salt Lake City, Utah. They later divorced. Nanny was a very special mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved everyone and was loved by all in return. She was the matriarch of her family, and loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. She loved life and enjoyed nature, especially the view from her window of Mt. Olympus.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Ken (Carolyn) Smith of Sandy, UT, Larry (Kay) Smith of Costa Mesa, CA, and Janna Ross of Salt Lake City, UT; a special daughter-in-law Mina Smith, of Sandy, UT; many grandchildren and great-grand-children; one sister, Mary (Robert) Stoelt of Kirkland, WA. Preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at 4 p.m., at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Friends may call one hour prior, at 3:00pm, to visit with the family. At Nanny's request, her body was donated to the University of Utah for medical research.
