BOUNTIFUL<! > - Jose Junius Ramos passed away peacefully at home after a valiant struggle for several years.
He was born March 23, 1922 in Manila, Phillippines to Alfredo and Juana Francisca Ramos. He was the oldest of 11 children. He graduated saludatorian from the Phillippine Nautical Academy. While serving in the Merchant Marines, his ship was torpedoed by the Japanese. At the time of his rescue, he chose to join the U. S. Army where he spent the next 25 years, serving his adopted and much loved country. He retired from the military in 1967 and went to work for the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer for 11 years. He retired in 1986 from Zions Bank. He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which he joined in 1958.
He was married to E. Marie Sorenson for 29 years until her death in 1980. They had four children. In 1981 he married Jeanette Staves. They were married 19 and a half years.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette and her 12 children; his children: Linda (Gary) Van Dolzer, Alfred (Rita) Ramos, Susan (Conrad) Brandt. Maren (Sam) Paget; 60 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.
He was a man of highest integrity, loyal to his country and family. He smiled even in the midst of his afflictions. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful 13th Ward Chapel, 600 East 1300 North. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and again Saturday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
