Eugene Dewey Wright passed away after a brief illness on November 29, 2000. He was born on September 22, 1924 in Brigham City, Utah to Eugene Franklin and Lila Dewey Wright.
Married to Ann Marie Outzen March 18, 1948. Later sol-emnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an active member of the LDS church, and held many positions in the church, inclu-ding Stake Mission-ary, Sunday School President, Ward Clerk and Home Teacher. Eugene was proud of his long service as Ward Clerk. He will be remembered for his
dedication, efficiency and his many acts of kindness. He cherished his family and was a noble and great example to them.
He served in World War II and was decorated for valor with the Bronze and Silver Stars and a Purple Heart. The disability he bore with grace and dignity was incurred while in the service of his country in World War II. He believed that every year after his injury at 19 was a bonus. He lived life to the fullest.
Survived by his wife, Ann; and two children, Jeffrey W. and JoAnne (Lance Strong); grandson, Eugene Christopher; two brothers, Bruce (Maria) and Dave (Sherrill). He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lela Ann; and son, Eugene Edward.
He received a Masters degree in Social Work with the first graduating class at the University of Utah. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He worked for the Department of Employment Security and retired after 31 years of service.
His philosophy was to honor people while they were alive.
