We would publicly like to thank Channel 7 PBS for the tremendous special aired a few nights ago titled "Hitler's Lost Sub." Although it was two hours in length, it was worth every minute. Unlike with some of the specials aired by other stations, we were not led down dusty tunnels for a length of time to come up with an empty sarcophagus or along sandy beaches for a buried treasure that never made its appearance. The research and editing done on this program was phenomenal.
We admit to being World War II history buffs and were a trifle leery about being disappointed. We thought to give it a half-hour, but once it began, we could not tear ourselves away. We were treated to historic facts never known before. Pictures from the past and the present only enhanced the documentary and were educational as well. Military figures who "were there" gave insight into the mentality that helped to prolong the sacrifice of young men for a lost cause.
We applaud the PBS stations that make such programs possible when cable television is not on option because of fixed incomes. We welcome a diversion from sitcoms that are aired over and over again until television is no longer entertaining. We encourage everyone to watch for this program if it is shown again. You will not be disappointed.
