Wayne Monroe Fairbanks, 50, of Orem, UT died instantly Sunday, November 26, 2000 at Page, Arizona in a tragic motor vehicle accident.
Wayne was born August 28, 1950 in Boise, ID to LeRoy S. Fairbanks and Elvina Monroe a healthy, happy infant. He was the middle child of 9 children and very gifted in music, sports, personality and scholastics.
He was educated in the Meridian School District and graduated from Meridian High School in 1968. Many remember him for his incredible abilities on the MHS basketball team. He also was a concert pianist and won many awards. Wayne played the trumpet in the marching band and displayed contagious humor among family and friends.
Wayne received a baseball scholarship from the Lewis Clark Naval College in Lewiston, ID and attended college until he served an honorable mission in San Louis Obispo, CA for the LDS Church. Wayne graduated from BYU and received his law degree from Columbia University with honors.
He practiced law in Oklahoma, California and Utah, and served as editor of the Utah County Journal.
On December 22, 1972, Wayne married Grace Elaine Watson in the Provo, UT LDS Temple for all eternity.
Wayne and Elaine brought six beautiful children into their home, who were the light of their lives, Brenda, Adam, Bonnie, David, Daniel and Joseph.
Both Wayne and Elaine had open arms and hearts for anyone in need.
Everyone was welcome to share their home, music and laughter.

Wayne is survived by his mother, Elvina L. Fairbanks; his children, Brenda and Jamar Calloway, Adam and Lidija Fairbanks, Bonnie and Mike Anderson, and David Fairbanks; four brothers, Roger and Ann Fairbanks, K.E. and Linda Fairbanks, Richard Fairbanks, Dale and Rosetta Fairbanks; four sisters, Patrice Fairbanks, Virginia Fairbanks, Rosemary and Steven Barfuss, Diane and Doug Brinton; 38 nieces and nephews; and nine grand- children.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 in the Eagle, Idaho LDS Chapel located at 700 W. State Street, Eagle. Bishop Danny Miller of the Sharon Park 5th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. The family will greet friends one-hour prior to the service at the Eagle LDS Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Star Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel, Boise.
An additional memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2000 in the Sharon Park LDS Stake Center, located at 50 East 700 North, Orem, Utah.
Memorials should be sent to the Utah County Journal on behalf of his surviving children. Elaine, Wayne, Daniel and Joseph will always be remembered with admiration and great affection by all who knew them.
