WILSON, Wyo. (AP) — A snowboarder was killed Friday by an avalanche that closed a highway in the mountains of northwestern Wyoming.
The body of Joel Roof, 28, of Jackson was found under 6 feet of snow, Teton County sheriff's Capt. Jim Whalen said. Friends reported him missing after finding tracks that disappeared in the slide.
It wasn't known whether he triggered the slide that covered some 40 feet of Wyoming Highway 22, Whalen said. The highway connects the Jackson Hole region with the Idaho side of the Teton Range.
