BOSTON (AP) — Some 70,000 Massachusetts residents with outstanding arrest warrants will be given 90 days to turn themselves in or lose their drivers' licenses, under a law that took effect last month.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles said it is mailing 500 letters a day to drivers with outstanding warrants and 1,000 to drivers named in new warrants. The 90-day grace period starts the day the letter is sent.

Massachusetts has about 325,000 outstanding warrants, with some people wanted on more than one warrant.
