Douglas Lavell Cheney, 82, died November 28, 2000.

He was born April 2, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Silas Lavell and Klara Young Cheney. He married Mildred M. Done August 12, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a World War II veteran. He graduated from Utah State University and retired after 30 years of government service in personnel management. He was an active mem-ber of LDS Church, having served two missions with the Spanish-speaking people, once as a young man and once with his wife. He served as a high councilman, as a bishop, was in several bishoprics and in numerous Priesthood and auxiliary positions.

Survived by his wife; sons: Joseph M. (Sandra) Done, Clovis, California, Dr. Stephen L. (Pamela) Done, Saudi Arabia, Richard L. (Janet) Cheney, Murrieta, California; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchil-dren; several very special grand-nieces and nephews and many nieces and nephews; a sister, Kara Lynn Chamberlain, Scottsdale, Arizona; brothers: Dr. David R. Cheney, Toledo, Ohio, Lowell K. Cheney, Clearwater, Florida and Dr. B. Vernon Cheney, Provo, Utah. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, his parents and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2000 at 12 noon at Wasatch lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr, where friends may call on Sunday 5-7 p.m. and on Monday 10:45-11:45 a.m., prior to the services.
