Allan K. Burgess died peacefully in his sleep Dec. 1, 2000.
He was born July 4, 1940 to Myron and Margaret Burgess. He grew up in Salt Lake City. He earned his B.S. in Accounting from the U of U. He received a M.S. in Educational Admini-stration from BYU. On Aug. 19, 1966, he married Jean McRae in the Salt Lake Temple.
Allan spent his entire life serving the Savior he loved. He was a missionary in Australia. In 1966 he began his career with CES that extended to the day he died. He served as a bishop, Gospel Doctrine teacher, seved on the High Council and in many other callings in the LDS Church. He was an accomplished writer with many published works.
Allan was the consummate teacher. His influence has changed lives, enabled understanding, and has imparted hope through Jesus Christ to untold numbers. His testimony will live through all who read his books or listened to him teach.
He is survived by an eternal family, his wife Jeani, his children Becky Eastmond (Mark), Greg (Jacquie), Brian (Kim), Spencer, his sister Yvonne, his brothers Merril and Paul, and seven grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at 1 p.m. at the Grantsville Stake Center, where friends and family may call on Sunday 5-7 p.m. and Monday 11:45-12:45 a.m., prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr. Funeral directors, Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
