Our beloved husband, father, gramps and pop-pop, William "Bill" Bogden, passed away Nov. 29, 2000, at the age of 71.

Born November 6, 1929 in Highlandboy, Utah (Bingham Canyon), he was the eighth of ten children born to Nickolas and Zora Vranes Bogden. Bill was raised in Highlandboy and Murray, attending local schools and graduating from Mur-ray High School in 1948. Bill went on to attend the University of Utah and grad-uated with an Industrial Psychology degree in 1953.

In February 1956, he married Marilyn Sharp of Midvale, and over the next 20 years they were blessed with six children: five boys and one girl. Bill held many positions over his 45 year career at Kennecott Copper until his retirement in 1993. He started as a Trackman at the Bingham Canyon Mine in 1947 while still a student. He also worked as a trackshifter operator, angledozer operator and became an Industrial Engineer in 1958.

He became an Industrial Relations representative in 1959, Senior Industrial Relations Representative in 1962, Plant Industrial Relations Supervisor in 1964, working successively at the mine and concentrator.

In 1971, he was advanced to Bonneville Concentrator Operations Superintendent, and two years later became Concentrator Plant Maintenance Superintendent.

Throughout his career, he was Operations Superintendent over numerous Kennecott plants including, Concentrators, Ore Haulage, Smelter and the Mine. Wherever there was a difficult situation they called for Bill Bogden to fix it. Bill was well respected. Bill had a lifelong love of the outdoors including boating, camping, caring for his gardens, grooming his yard to perfection, and taking his family on outings to California and other scenic spots. He had a quick wit and was a gifted storyteller. Much of his time in later years was spent with his grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He also had many dear friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Larry Bogden, Midvale; Wendell Bogden, Sandy; Ronnie (Teri) Bogden, Bluffdale; Gary Bogden (Anna), Midvale; Lisa (Layne) Statner, Alamo, CA; Jim Bogden, Sandy; his grandchildren, Riley, BreAnna, and Greyson Bogden, Bluffdale; Justin Bogden, Rock Springs, WY; Marissa and Brandon Statner, Alamo, CA; brothers, Grey Bogden, Golden, CO; Robert Bogden, Murray; Stan Bogden, Murray; sisters, June Marenkovich, Pacifica, CA; Mary Chufar, Midvale. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Pete and Nickolas; sisters, Olga and Mildred.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State where friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
