SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Some 1,000 members of various faiths, including many Latter-day Saints, gathered Nov. 18 for "A Celebration of the Family." It was the first of what is hoped to be an annual event in conjunction with National Family Week.

Chairman of the event, which was held at the Sacramento Convention Center, was Dean Forman, a high councilor in the Roseville California Stake and president of United Families International. "The family is under attack," Brother Forman said, "and this event was designed to give [parents] the tools they need to protect and defend this most important unit in our society."
