A 32-year-old Salt Lake man has been charged with three drug-related charges after police said they found marijuana and methamphetamine while questioning him about taking items from a Deseret Industries donation bin.

According to charges filed in 3rd District Court on Friday, the man was discovered at the downtown Deseret Industries store, 151 E. 700 South, removing items from the donationbin and placing them in his truck. After questioning the man, police arrested him and subsequently discovered a bag of yellow powder that the man later admitted was "meth." Police also found a marijuana joint and a glass pipe.

The man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony that has a maximum fine of $5,000 and up to five years in jail. He was also charged with two class B misdemeanors, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. They each have a maximum of a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.
