Florence Eva Guthrie Smith, 88 of Salt Lake City, died Dec. 1, 2000.

She was born Oct. 4, 1912, in Cripple Creek, CO to Francis Porter and Florence Eva Zengel Guthrie. She married Robert Jenkins Smith on May 29, 1935. He died

Sept. 1976.

She was executive secretary for Sharon Steel for 44 years. She was an active member of American Business Women's Association, St. Amb-rose Forty Niners, and the Nocturnal Ador-ation Society. She was a volunteer for the St. Vincent De Paul Soup Kitchen for many years. She was an active bowler.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Mildred O. Guthrie, Louise Smith, Elsie Smith; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, John T. Guthrie.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple. A vigil service will be held Monday 7 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 E. 100 South, where friends may call 6-7 p.m. Committal: Mt.
