President Gordon B. Hinckley of the LDS Church in his excellent book, "Standing For Something," wrote: "Both experience and divine wisdom dictate that moral virtue and cleanliness pave the way that leads to strength of character, peace of mind and heart, and happiness in life. There is no question that the way of safety and the road to a sense of genuine fulfillment lie in sexual abstinence before marriage and fidelity following marriage."
During the 2000 Utah Legislative session, an excellent moral sex education bill (HB411) was introduced by the Republicans. The bill would have mandated the teaching of abstinence before marriage and fidelity after marriage and related moral subjects with parental involvement.
The bill passed the House 41-33 and the Senate 16-13. All Democrats voted against HB411, against moral and family values. Republicans voted overwhelmingly for HB411, for moral and family values.
Sadly, this excellent bill was then vetoed by the governor under extreme pressure from the Democrats and their fellow hedonists, the elitist liberal establishment, the radical left-wing pro-choice feminists and Planned Parenthood
The voting on this bill by the Democrats and Republicans illustrates the difference in relation to moral and family values between the two parties. Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah, was right when he said, "Republicans values represent LDS values."
President Theodore Roosevelt said, "To educate a person in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society."
Is it any wonder that so many people here in Utah who care about moral values have become Republicans, as the Democratic Party in Utah and nationwide have drifted so far to the left into hedonism and socialism.
