The Utah chapter of the Federal Bar Association was named "Chapter of the Year" at the organization's national convention in Cleveland recently.
Also, the Utah chapter announced that Judge David K. Winder has received the "Outstanding Judicial Service Award" and Alan L. Sullivan has been recognized with the "Outstanding Lawyer Award" for the state.
Accepting the award for the Utah chapter were President Robert S. Clark, Vice President James D. Gilson, Secretary Peter H. Christensen and Treasurer Mark K. Vincent.
The chapter has increased its membership by nearly 40 percent in the past year. It has also sponsored several seminars and speaker luncheons and began publishing a quarterly legal newsletter.
Winder is senior judge for Utah's U.S. District Court. His work ethic and exacting practice are universally praised by litigants and counsel who have appeared before him.
Sullivan is an attorney and partner with the Salt Lake office of Snell & Wilmer. He also is past president of the Salt Lake County Bar and has practiced law in Salt Lake City for 25 years.
The Federal Bar Association is a professional organization for private and government lawyers. It was founded 75 years ago and has 15,000 members.
