Along with Tuesday's teacher walk-out comes the postponement or rescheduling of the majority of high school athletic contests throughout the state.
There were close to 60 varsity boys and girls basketball games scheduled, forcing them to be rescheduled along with the junior varsity, sophomore and freshmen games.
Jerry Bovee of the Utah High School Activities Association said it will be "business as usual" in their office, but the decision to play, not play or reschedule games will be left to the individual school districts.
He said the association's state arbiter, Greg Warner, will work with the schools when their games are rescheduled, to assign the officials for those contests.
Most of the major school districts have been confirmed closed Tuesday (Davis, Salt Lake, Jordan, Alpine, Cache, Ogden, Logan, Murray and Provo). Granite School District will remain open, but the crossover with the other schools in preseason contests still forces the postponement and rescheduling of games for the schools in the Granite District as well.
