Roads to Flaming Gorge Recreation Area are snowpacked, and travelers should use care when driving on Forest Service Road No. 221. The road is snowpacked but open from Sheep Creek Loop and Sheep Creek Lake with 6 to 8 inches of snow. It is accessible by four-wheel drive vehicles. The gates at Birch Creek and Sheep Creek Lake, however, are closed, and snow plowing will not be done on the Birch Creek Road during the winter.

"The remainder of high country district roads will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 20, or possibly sooner if weather conditions predict a change," said Eileen Richmond, Flaming Gorge ranger.
