Norma Shurtliff Forsberg, 80, died at her home on Nov. 29, 2000 after enduring non-Hodgkin's lymphoma for six years.

Norma was born September 4, 1920, in Brigham City, Utah, to Wilford Haskill Shurtliff and Carlie Eliza Redd.

She attended South High School and the Uni-versity of Utah where she began her art education.

Married John G. Forsberg on November 19, 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple.

They moved to Bountiful in 1946.

Norma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. As her children grew older, her artistic talents blossomed. She continued her lifelong art studies with many well-known American artists and developed her abilities in all art mediums. She was widely respected in the art community and was recognized with numerous awards for her beautiful work.

John and Norma built a lovely studio at their home and she was very prolific in creating paintings, which have been enjoyed by many. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout Utah, California, Idaho and Nevada.

Her works are widely represented in public, private and corporate collections across the United States and in Europe and Japan. She taught classes at the Bountiful Davis Art Center for many years and has numerous devoted students. Her creativity touched every aspect of her life and made her unique.

Even under difficult circumstances, she comforted the many who loved her with her indomitable spirit and endearing sense of humor right to the end.

Young at heart and spirit, she was a continually positive influence upon all those she came in contact with.

The world is a better place because of her. She will be greatly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Catherine, sister Janet Lewis, and brothers Harold and Jay Shurtliff.
