Claire Amelia Lee (Vi) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 28, 2000.
She was born October 10, 1905 in Luton England, the 3rd daughter of Edmund Gethan Clayton and Sarah Amelia Ann Perkins Clayton and was a direct descendent of a Utah Pioneer, John Perkins.
On July 16, 1939, she married Sidney Lee, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands - Angela Mary Lee Mitchell (Ken) and Janet Lee Checchio (Joe), 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the LDS Church with a lifetime of service. The first branch meeting in Luton was held in the Clayton home and continued until a chapel was built. Vi served on the Young Women's Board of England and was a stalwart member during those early years. In 1947, the family immigrated to the United States. She leaves a legacy of unconditional love and kindness and will be remembered for her enthusiastic optimism, appreciation and reverence for God's creations. Even with the restrictions of age, she continued to be uncomplaining and self sufficient, taking great joy in each day believing an adventure awaited her.
Services will be held at the Holladay 26th Ward Chapel, 2601 South 2565 East at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2000 with a viewing from 11:45-12:45 p.m. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
