Thyra Lee Evans, 94, of Provo, passed away December 1, 2000, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, of congestive heart failure.

She was born Nov. 20, 1906, in Dysart, Tama County, IA to Merton Lee Buck, and Emma Simonsen Buck. She later mar-ried Kenneth John Evans, who pre-ceded her in death in 1970.

Thyra was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Provo. She had re-tired from the Walter F. Bennett Co. Advertising Agency after 25 years of service, where she was responsible for scheduling radio programming for the Billy Graham Radio Programs.

An award winning Watercolor Artist, Thyra won her most recent award in Provo at the age of 93. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, gourmet cooking, and traveling. She credited the secret to her long life as always having something to do, and getting up in the morning to do it.

Thyra had also spent time as a Professional Model, and was an extra in the Alfred Hitchcock movie "North By Northwest", starring Cary Grant, and Eva Marie Saint.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Eulalie (James) Lowe, Whidbey Island, WA, and their children, Frederick Gardner Johnson, Denise Marie Carlton, Elizabeth Lee Fisher, Kendra Jayne Johnson; and grandchildren, Kenneth Johnson, and Katie and Meagan Fisher; a son, John Bertrand (Jill) Evans, Gurnee, IL, and their children, Kimberly Ann Schratwieser,Jennifer Lynn Acuna; and grandchildren, Katie and Christopher Stark, Edward Nicholas Schratwieser, and Emily Acuna; a daughter, Thyra Lee (David) Boyer, Decatur, IL, and their children, Kathryn Sue Nichol, Daniel David Boyer, Richard Allen Boyer; and grandchildren, Kylie and Adam Boyer, Joshua, Brycen, and William (B.J.) Nichol; a daughter, Margaret Josephine Evans, Provo, UT, and her son, Keith Carlson; and grandchildren, Brandon, Kaylee, and Tyler Carlson; a daughter, Kendra Jane Higgins, Eugene, OR, and her children, Margaret Elizabeth (Margaux) Murray, Tonya Galadriel King, and Heather Christina Higgins.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Oak Hills LDS Sixth Ward Chapel,1900 N. 1500 E, Provo, Tuesday Dec 5, 2000, 10 a.m.
