MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A former aide to Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist filed a sexual harassment complaint with the state Monday that denies her sexual relationship with the married mayor was consensual, her lawyer said.
Attorney Victor Arellano withheld details of the complaint to the Equal Rights Division until it could be delivered to all parties, but he read a statement from Marilyn Figueroa, who claimed relentless pursuit by "a powerful individual over me" created an "environment of submission."
"My attempts to break away from the shackles of a very oppressive and controlling, sexually harassing environment imposed upon me eventually led to a health-related breakdown," she said in the statement.
Figueroa, 41, left her $55,000-a-year job as a key aide to Norquist in January.
