MIAMI — O.J. Simpson was involved in an altercation with another motorist who claimed the former football great grabbed his glasses and scratched him, police said.

The man told police that he saw a black Ford Navigator drive past a stop sign Monday in the suburban community of Kendall. The man, whom police would not identify, said he "flicked his lights" at the sports utility vehicle.

The Navigator stopped and its driver exited the vehicle and walked toward the other car, detective Rudy Espinosa said. The two men argued briefly, he said.

Simpson then "reached inside the car and pulled the glasses off the victim's face, causing a small scratch on his face," Espinosa said.

"The victim went home and called police and was able to identify the driver of the black Navigator as Orenthal James Simpson," Espinosa said.
