Austin Whitney Chappell, 81, died December 4, 2000 of natural causes.

Austin was born in Loa, Utah on December 22, 1918, to William LaMont and Nora Belle Cook Chappell. He married Roene B. Maxfield in the Manti LDS temple February 27, 1939. Austin spent his life caring for others. He was a devoted husband and spent the past 40 years caring for his invalid wife and being a perfect Grandfather to his eight grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and continued his career maintaining aircraft engines and writing technical manuals at Hill Air Force Base.

Austin loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf, visiting his family and working in his yard. He loved to listen to music and enjoyed playing the guitar and the organ. He was a patient, caring man who always had time to spend helping others. He was a member of the Kaysville 9th ward of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his wife, Roene; children, Shanna (Rodney S.) Page, Kaysville; Carl (Sue) Chappell, Orem; brothers, Kennard Chappell, Wendall Chappell, Lyman, Utah; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville Utah East Stake Center, 201 S. 600 E. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main and Thurs. from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at the Stake Center. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
