Marilyn Durham Lee, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother died Saturday, December 2, 2000, from comp-lications of an exten-ded illness, which she bore with grace and dignity. Her courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Born July 6, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Wayne C. and Barbara Paul-son Durham. Marilyn was educated in Salt Lake schools and graduated from the University of Utah, where she was president of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Marilyn married David Bracken Lee on December 29, 1972 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1975, where they have since resided. Marilyn loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess to many civic, political, and church functions. Her home was always open to family and friends.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marilyn enjoyed serving as a Relief Society president in three wards, and in many other positions. Marilyn's artistry and generosity have blessed countless lives. Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother. Marilyn's greatest joy was her family.

(Benjamin) Burton, Orem; Barbara Brooke, Jessica Jane, and Joshua Durham Lee, Vienna, VA; granddaughter, Madeline Nicole Burton; mother and stepfather, Barbara P. and David S. Hatch; brothers and sisters, W. Cole (Louise) Durham, Jr., Provo; Mark P. (Mary) Durham, serving as president of the Tokyo North Mission; Nancy D. (Mark) Gasser, Phoenix, AZ.; Paul M. (Maren) Durham, Janet D. (Jonathan) Jackson, Janie (Dennis) Reese, Margery Ann (Scott) Sorensen, and Richard P.(Christena) Durham, all Salt Lake City; in-laws, Joseph C. and Clarice B. Lee; Liz L.(Steven) Niederhauser, Salt Lake City; Richard A. (Rose) Lee, Boise, ID; and Barbara L. (Pete) Baldwin, Lexington, VA. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Wayne C. Durham.
Services Thursday, December 7, 12 noon, at the Monument Park 15th Ward, 1300 South and Wasatch Drive. Friends may call Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East and 1300 South, and Thursday at the church 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Cemetery. Memorial service will be held at the Great Falls Ward, McLean, VA., at 12 noon on Saturday, December 9. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
