Makiko Kasahara had only three baskets in Rowland Hall's thrilling 37-36 win over fourth-ranked Intermountain Christian School Tuesday night.
But baskets don't come any bigger than the senior guard's last shot of the game.
Down by two points, with just two seconds to go, Kasahara hit a three-point shot for a one-point lead. It was the third time the lead had changed in the last 10 seconds.
The Winged Lions were down by eight points going into the fourth quarter. They'd trailed the entire game.
"It was a poorly played game (by Rowland Hall) until the fourth quarter," said coach Teresa Totorica.
It was in the fourth quarter that Megan Andrews turned on the offense, scoring eight of her 14 points for Rowland Hall.
"She really brought us back into it," Totorica said. And then there was the last-second shot by Kasahara for the win.
"It was exciting," she said. "That's a strong team (ICS)."
The game was ICS' first loss this season.
