PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Secret Service agent has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $2,000 from evidence collected during searches and trying to conceal it from investigators.

Prosecutors said Michael Cohen, who was an assistant to the head of the Philadelphia office of the Secret Service, took cash seized in searches of the homes of two people under criminal investigation.

In addition to protecting top politicians, the Secret Service investigates certain financial crimes such as currency conterfeiting, forgery of government securities, credit card fraud and identity theft.
