WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: After winning its NCAA first- and second-round matches in Provo, the No. 12 BYU women's volleyball team travels to Lincoln, Neb., to compete in an NCAA Central Region semifinal match Friday against No. 5-ranked Arizona.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Erin Thorn's 24 points, including six 3-pointers, were not enough for the Cougars to overcome a 19-point halftime deficit as BYU fell to Arkansas 93-73 Monday. The loss puts BYU at 4-2 on the year.
WOMEN'S GOLF: With the signing period now complete, the BYU women's golf team has announced the addition of two familiar faces to next year's squad.
Recruits Natalie Newren and Margaret Gibby both have sisters who currently play on BYU's women's golf team.
Southern Utah
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Southern Utah coach Joe Hillock has announced the signing of three players to national letters of intent to play basketball for the Thunderbirds next season.
The T-Birds received NLIs from Casey Cooke, a 5-9 guard from Snow College; Sarah Hutton, a 6-3 post player from Orem's Timpanogos High School; and Carrie Wilson, a 6-3 post player from Lake Oswego (Ore.) High School.

FOOTBALL: University of Utah football player Kimball Christianson has been named to the Verizon Academic All-America second team. Christianson, a German major who has taken the MCAT exam in preparation for medical school, carries a 3.81 cumulative GPA.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Two Utah Valley State College volleyball players received NJCAA All-America honors this week. Sophomore setter Ale Domingos was selected to the first team, and freshman outside hitter Fran Pozzi was named to the second team.
