Patrik Elias scored three goals to lead New Jersey past Colorado. Rookie Daniel Corso needed just one to give St. Louis a victory over Anaheim.

Elias' first career hat trick in a 6-1 victory over the Avalanche on Tuesday night pushed the Devils' unbeaten streak to nine games (7-0-2) following a six-game losing skid.

The line of Elias, Petr Sykora and Jason Arnott combined for five goals and five assists as the Stanley Cup champions handed the Avalanche — the NHL's top team — just their fifth loss (19-5-3).

"We're getting that feeling back like we had last year, that coming into a game we can win games for this team or score some goals," Elias said.

Corso's first NHL goal made sure the Blues avoided defeat for the fifth straight game.

"It's great to get the game-winner," said Corso, recalled from the minors Monday by the injury-plagued Blues. "I didn't expect to play that much."

Since Arnott ended a holdout on Nov. 19 and rejoined Sykora and Elias, the line has combined for 12 goals in seven games.

"It's a fun line to play on," Arnott said. "When those two are going, we can create a lot and work off each other."
