Salt Lake County sheriff's detectives Wednesday combed through the Jeep Cherokee belonging to a man killed Sunday night in Parleys Canyon, looking for any possible evidence that would help them in the case.

Investigators had been looking for Herbert Strehl's Jeep since he was found tied up and shot multiple times in a quarry three miles up the canyon.

Tuesday, a maintenance worker at Little America Hotel, 500 S. Main, spotted a gold-colored 2000 Jeep Cherokee in the hotel parking lot that matched the description of the missing vehicle, deputy Peggy Faulkner said.

The worker called Salt Lake police, who went to the hotel and verified it was the vehicle. Those officers then called county deputies who towed the vehicle away about 1:30 p.m.

Investigators would not say Wednesday whether they had found any evidence in the car that may lead them to a suspect or suspects.
