John Carlson's debut on video was a definite flop.

A surveillance camera at a Hollywood Video rental store captured the 26-year-old man crashing through the ceiling and dropping about 10 feet to the floor shortly before midnight on Monday.

Carlson, 26, said he had been living in the store's attic for some time, said Salt Lake City Police Capt. Scott Atkinson, although there was no evidence anyone had been staying there.

"I guess it was a surprise to everybody when he fell out," he said. "He smacked his head and back and received some pretty good injuries."

Police were called after Carlson allegedly tried to assault firefighters who reported to the scene.
