PROMONTORY POINT, Box Elder — Three workers on a crane barge in the Great Salt Lake were taken to Salt Lake and Ogden hospitals after they were injured Tuesday morning.

According to a statement released by the Box Elder Sheriff's Office, an anchor cable entangled around a submerged object broke free and struck the three workers at about 7:30 a.m.

The injured included a man in his 60s from Mississippi, who sustained two broken legs; a man in his 30s from Arizona, who sustained a shoulder injury; and another Arizonan, in his 20s, who had head injuries, the statement said.

The three men were transported to hospitals by medical helicopter. Injuries ranged from minor to major "but none were life-threatening," the statement said.
