Joseph A. Ayre, a devoted husband, brother and uncle, age 92, slipped gently away December 5, 2000, due to a stroke and old age in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born Feb. 9, 1908, in Scofield, Utah, a son of John R. and Katherine Christen-sen Ayre. He grew up working in the family grocery store. He served four years in the U.S. Army. He married Ione Rasmussen on March 20, 1947. He worked many years at Hill Air Force Base, where he stayed until he retired. He lived a very full life enjoying his cars with some traveling, and lots of association with extended family.
He is survived by his wife Ione Sophia R. Ayre, sister Katheryn Clements, brother and sister-in-law John (Vivia) Hopkins, five nieces and six nephews and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Arthur Ayre and sister LaVina McQueen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at 1 pm, at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, UT., where friends may call 11a.m. to
