Connie Barbara Schiess Schulthess, 90, died Dec. 3, 2000 of cancer, at the home of her daughter in Jacksonville, Oregon.
She was born Dec. 25 1909, Christmas Day, to Susan Stauffer and Jacob Schiess in Freedom, Wyoming. She married Wallace Jacob Schulthess. They later divorced.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She lived in Providence, Utah and graduated from Utah State College. She taught elementary school until her marriage. She was a dedicated volunteer at the LDS Hospital, delivering flowers every Monday afternoon, until a year ago.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Susan and Clint Phelps, Jacksonville, Oregon; Jane and Robert Bielamowicz, Coppell, Texas; Anna Barbara and Barry Rogers, McCall, Idaho; Wallace J. and Jeanette Schulthess, Woodruff, Utah; Thomas B. and Darlene Schulthess, Kemmerer, Wyoming; one sister-in-law, Betty Schiess, Seattle, Washington; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with another expected in February. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister, Edwin, John U., Alvin, Alf, Alonzo, Lloyd, Dell, Virl and Hazel North.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. at the Woodruff Ward Chapel, Woodruff, Utah. Friends may call at the Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and may call at the church on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will take place in the Providence Cemetery next to her mother at 2:15 p.m. following the services.
